Assam: Bihu performance main attraction at Delphic Cultural Summit

A Bihu performance by Dr Prasanna Gogoi and Somnath Bora Oja left the gathering of the recently-concluded Delphic Cultural Summit held in Kolkata spellbound.

NAGAON: A Bihu performance by Dr Prasanna Gogoi and Somnath Bora Oja left the gathering of the recently-concluded Delphic Cultural Summit held in Kolkata spellbound.

Somnath Bora Oja played six dhols, supported by Swapna Anjan Bora, while Dr Prasanna Gogoi played buffalo horn. Both Somnath Bora Oja and Dr Prasanna Gogoi are recipients of medals in the Delphic Games. There was also a discussion with different foreign delegates about taking Bihu performance abroad.

The event was organized by the Bengal Delphic Council in association with the National Delphic Council of India. It was collaborated by UNESCO, British Council, Delphic Council of Nepal etc. Forty-five delegates attended from different countries in addition to Indian delegates from different states.

Delphic Council of North East took part in a big way in the Delphic Cultural Summit held from October 12-October 14. Swapnanil Barua, Dr Sanjib Kr Borkakoti, Dr Prasanna Gogoi, Somnath Bora Oja, Brigadier Sanjeev Chopra, Asomee Dutta Barua, Ranjan Bezbarua, Khyo Ngulli, Mrinmoyee Goswami, Gumjum Haider, Krishnanjan Chanda and Swapna Anjan Bora took part in this event on behalf of Delphic Council of North East.

Brigadier Sanjeev Chopra regaled the audience with different anecdotes. Delphic Cultural of North East felicitated the delegates with Assamese gamosa, which was highly appreciated. The ceremony was conducted by Swapnanil Barua, president of Delphic Cultural of North East.
