The Bharatiya Janata party has announced to go solo in the forthcoming BTC polls.

Recently, in a meeting of the BJP party workers held at Tangla in Udalguri district, Mangaldai Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia and Assam minister of irrigation (independent) , Bhabesh Kalita, among local party leaders discussed threadbare all the ills plaguing the party and the strategies of the party for the coming BTC elections.

While speaking to media persons, Mangaldai Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia debunked all the rumours of the party's alliance with other political parties like BPL or UPPL in the BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council).

"We want our party workers and the voters to get it loud and clear that we are not in alliance with any party and we will contest the polls solo," stated Saikia.

Notably, Bodoland People's Front (BPF) accompanied by 12 MLAs is in alliance with BJP in Dispur and is power ever since the formation of BTC in 2003.

It is to be mentioned that BPF headed back to power in BTC council in 2015 for the third tenure winning 20 out of 40 seats.

As per the official report, BJP opened their account in the Council with just one seat.
