Assam: Boat Carrying Rice Bags Capsizes In Brahmaputra River

The boat was coming from Bohori Ghat to Kachumara Ghat and it sank in the river after it was caught up in a storm.

Guwahati: A boat carrying rice bags capsized in the Brahmaputra River in Assam's Barpeta district on Tuesday evening.

According to reports, no casualty was reported in the incident.

The boat was coming from Bohori Ghat to Kachumara Ghat and it sank in the river after it was caught up in a storm.

Notably, the passengers were safely rescued by locals.

"The passengers were rescued, but the rice bags and other items were damaged in the incident. We demand from the state government to take necessary steps to construct a bridge connecting Bohori to Kachumara," Iqbal Hussain, local youth from Kolkata was quoted as saying by ANI.
