Assam: Boat With Army Personnel Onboard Capsizes, One Missing

In a bid to find the missing one, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has launched a search operation.

Sonitpur: An army personnel is reportedly missing after a boat in which he was in capsized in the Brahmaputra river in Assam's Sonitpur district, said Defence official on Monday.

As per a PTI report, three army men were rowing a country boat in the river in the Solmara area of the district when it suddenly capsized on Sunday evening.

Of three, two of them managed to swim safely while the third army personnel is still missing.

In a bid to find the missing one, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has launched a search operation.

As per the official, the missing army personnel has been identified as Anil Kumar, a clerk with the Gajraj Corps.

In this June this year, two Indian soldiers deployed at India-China Border in Arunachal Pradesh too went missing.

Both the missing jawans were identified as Harendra Negi and Prakash Singh Rana, posted in the 7 Garhwal Rifles in Arunachal Pradesh, were missing since May 28.

Reportedly, they were residents of Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district, while the family of one is currently living in the Dehradun district.

The 34-year-old Jawan Prakash Rana last spoke to his wife on 28 May through video call, but on 29th his wife got information about Rana's disappearance from the 7 Garhwal Rifle Unit. Since then, no information was received about Rana till then.

Along with Rana, Harendra Negi of Rudraprayag was also missing from duty since that day following which the army launched a search operation.
