Assam: Body of youth found in Dibrugarh

After 14 days, a body of a youth who got drowned in river Brahmaputra was found floating at Mohanaghat area in Dibrugarh on Tuesday morning.

DIBRUGARH: After 14 days, a body of a youth who got drowned in river Brahmaputra was found floating at Mohanaghat area in Dibrugarh on Tuesday morning. The body of the youth has been identified as Ananta Kakoti, who was washed away in the river Brahmaputra on November 8. Earlier, Diganta Kakoti’s body was found floating in the Mohanaghat area on November 13. According to reports, both Diganta Kakoti and Ananta Kakoti were brothers and on November 8, they drowned in the river Brahmaputra while offering pind daan (offering homage to departed soul) at Mohanaghat area in Dibrugarh. Diganta fell on the river while going to offering the pind. His younger brother jumped in the river to rescue his elder brother and both of them got drowned in the river due to heavy current. “We have found a body floating in the river at Mohanaghat area on Tuesday morning at around 8 am. The family members have confirmed the body as Ananta Kakoti. We have sent the body for postmortem and after that the body will be handed over to the family members for last rites,” said an official.
