Assam: Bohag Bihu To Get International Exposure, Claims CM

On 14th of April, approximately 10 to 15 thousand people will record Bihu in Guwahati, which will be embedded in the Guinness Book of World Records.

GUWAHATI : This year, Assam's Bohag Bihu will be celebrated in an international level, claims CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. The minister stated this while addressing the 74th Republic Day ceremony on 26th of January, Thursday.

The CM hoisted the National flag in the event that took place at Veterinary College field in Khanapara, Guwahati. On 14th of April, approximately 10 to 15 thousand people will record Bihu in Guwahati, which will be embedded in the Guinness Book of World Records, he added.

Apart from the milestone, PM Narendra Modi is also scheduled to visit Assam during Bohag Bihu this year. It is worth mentioning that, the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan has been celebrated in an international stature.

Now, Assam government has decided to offer the auspicious occasion of Bohag Bihu an international exposure.

Himanta Biswa Sarma also declared that, an amount of 300 crore will be sanctioned to modify the Kamakhya temple. While addressing the Republic Day ceremony, the CM also stated that India is not a nation state but a civilisation.

With this, he also offered homage to brave hearts of India, on the occasion Republic Day at Shraddhanjali Kanan, Guwahati.

Along with that, Himanta Biswa Sarma also mentioned that, old pension scheme for the elderly will be now increased to Rs 1250, per month.

The state administration is rapidly trying to promote traditions and cultural values of Assam in a broader platform. A series of development has taken place as a result of this process.

Notably, the parade which took place in New Delhi, showcased Ahom Kingdom's pride, Rang Ghar and Shiva Dol on Republic Day celebrations.

Along with that, Assam Tableau has also showcased Vir Lachit Borphukan on the boat and Maa Kamakhya temple.
