JORHAT: The 10-day (December 2 to 11) Assam Book Fair was inaugurated at the Jorhat Court Field on Friday.
The Book Fair organized by the Publication Board Assam, All Assam Publishers and Booksellers' Association and Assam Academic Centre was inaugurated by eminent writer and former Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University, Professor Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri.
Noted writer, poet, essayist and linguist Nahendra Padun, who was one of the special guests at the inaugural ceremony, released the souvenir Prajna on the occasion. Another well-known writer and researcher Arshiya Sethi, and Sumanta Chaliha, vice-chairman of Publication Board Assam, were among the other special guests who attended the function.
The book fair has about 120 stalls and about 50 publication houses are participating.
