SILCHAR: For the first time, the State government is organizing book fair in Silchar. The Assam Publication Board, run by the State government will organize Assam Book Fair 2023 in Silchar from December 1. The fair will conclude on December 10, stated Pramod Kalita, the secretary of the publication board. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is expected to inaugurate the fair while the opening ceremony will be presided over by the Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu.
Addressing a press meet, Kalita along with Numal Mahatta, the Police Superintendent of Cachar informed that the ten-day mega event would be attended by dignitaries like Dr Selina Hossain, the chairperson of Bangla Academy of Bangladesh as well as an internationally acclaimed litterateur. Further noted Assamese writer Anuradha Sarma Pujari, eminent Bengali author from Kolkata Tilottama Majumdar will also attend the fair. Publishers from Dhaka, Kolkata, Guwahati, Agartala and Silchar will participate, Kalita added.
