Assam: Bus Falls into Pond in Sipajhar Injuring Several Passengers

GUWAHATI: On Thursday, numerous passengers were hurt when a passenger bus in Assam's Sipajhar skidded off the road and fell into a pond. The event, according to the reports, happened on the national route 15 at Sipajhar in the Assamese Darrang region.

The passenger bus, with the licence plate AS 25 AC 8699, lost control and slid into a pond at the side of the road. Although no fatalities were reported, the incident is said to have injured several passengers.

On the other hand, on Wednesday, according to reports that surfaced , an SUV went turtle in Guwahati's Survey neighbourhood when the driver lost control. According to sources, a Ford Eco Sport with the registration number AS 01 BQ 3449 was discovered last night at Survey in Guwahati turned on its side.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened as a two-wheeler was making a bend and the car approached at high speed, turning on its side to avoid colliding with the two-wheeler.

A youth was killed in a serious traffic accident in Bokakhat, Assam, on Tuesday earlier this week. Initial reports state that a pick-up truck and a truck collided head-on in the Latabari hamlet of Bokakhat subdivision in Assam's Golaghat district, close to an Indian Oil petrol station. The mishap happened on the night in between Monday and Tuesday.

According to sources, the accident resulted in the immediate death of one young person and the injury of three others. The deceased was named as Uttar Pradesh native Nirmal Ram Kumar.

Earlier this month, a road accident on the national highway near Brahmajan area in Assam's Gohpur left a number of people hurt, among them a pregnant mother.

Initial reports state that a Tata Magic passenger car that was travelling from Ghahigaon to Gohpur collided with the highway's wayside divider.

According to witnesses who were on the scene, the driver lost control while attempting to save a motorbike rider who quickly rushed from the front.
