BILASIPARA: The municipality of Bilasipara is in a severe financial crisis as a result of years of unpaid house rent for commercial properties that are owned by the municipality. In addition to other development projects, municipal employees have not received their salaries for several months. Despite multiple letters being delivered to the shopkeepers who were in default, no one showed up to pay the outstanding rent on their houses. In light of this, the municipality's executive officer, Mridul Sibhare, IAS, closed at least thirty businesses in Bilasipara Bazar on Friday. Two of the defaulting businesses seeing the gravity of the issue, immediately paid their outstanding rent. People of the locality appreciated the step undertaken by the executive officer.
