SILCHAR: Stage is ready for first ever cabinet meeting in Silchar on Tuesday. Almost all the Ministers had already reached Silchar and some of them had attended review meetings in Karimganj and Hailakandi. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will arrive at Kumbhirgram airport late Monday night in a special aircraft. The Cabinet meeting would be held at newly renovated DC conference hall at 11 am on Tuesday.

District administration in a press note stated that Sarma would lay the foundation stone of the guard wall of Ranghirkgal in the town. After the Cabinet, Sarma would proceed to Dolu TE to meet the labourers who had strongly opposed the move to a set up a greenfield airport in 2500 bighas of land inside the garden. Chief Minister would ceremonially hand over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to each families of the labourers.

Meanwhile, massive interest is brewing up amid the citizens of Silchar as Sarma was supposed to announce an elevated corridor to solve the traffic congestion in the town.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta had attended a meeting with the health officials and doctors of Karimganj district on Monday. He had reportedly expressed resentment over the overall health scenario of the bordering district. Government had decided to set up a medical college and hospital in Ratabari area which had generated much protest in Karimganj as the local people demanded that the medical college should be set up within ten kilometre radius of the town. Earlier on Sunday evening Mahanta attended a meeting at Silchar Medical College and Hospital to review the progress of the construction work of the 500 bed super speciality hospital and the cancer hospital in the premise of SMCH.

Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, Urban Development Minister Ashok Singhal, PHE Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora had also attended review meetings in Karimganj and Hailakandi. Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu on the other hand attended a function in Shyama Charan Deb Vidyapeeth in Silchar which would be upgraded as a model school.

Meanwhile Silchar town, otherwise a garbage-stained city had got a face-lift for the much hyped Cabinet. District police had already put no-entry and oneway board in various roads of the town. To improve the city's appearance, all of the roadside small-time vendors had been evicted.
