GOALPARA: The police administration and the district transport department of Dudhnoi in Goalpara district have started a campaign for an accident-free New Year in response to directions from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to prevent accidents in the state.

The officers of the Dudhnoi police and paramilitary forces, as well as the employees of the transport department, have prepared for any potential event on the eve of the impending new year. To prevent persons from operating two-, three-, and four-wheel vehicles while intoxicated, Goalpara district police are conducting breathalyzer tests.

The police, on the other hand, is tough on people who drive without seat belts or helmets. "As everyone is aware, during the months of December and January, a number of individuals were killed and injured in an accident that occurred as people were ringing in the new year. An official from the police spoke to the media and said that some people drink alcohol for fun and as a result, they inadvertently become victims of accidents.

"Our Chief Minister expects the public to ring in the new year without any such incidents, and he wants to make sure that we're running breathalyzer checks and raising awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving," he continued. A set of instructions applying Section 144 at picnic areas, he added, has been released. Regarding late-night festivities ringing in the New Year on the evening of December 31, Pawar stated that hotels would also receive rules.

Furthermore, Narsingh Pawar, the District Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia stated on December 29 that the government of the district is completely ready to ring in the New Year without any mishaps. The Deputy Commissioner urged everyone to celebrate the New Year safely and in accordance with the district administration's rules while speaking to the media in Tinsukia. "To prevent drink and drive instances in the district," he continued, "the District Transport Department, Excise Department, and Police Department have been thoroughly warned."
