Digboi: An old Indigo car parked outside Ajay Motor Garage near No 1 Borbil on the National Highway 38 in Digboi town went up in flames in the wee hours of Tuesday. After received information about the incident fire tender from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) was rushed to the spot to douse off the fire.
It is suspected that some miscreant was behind the incident. However, the reason behind the incident is yet to be known, however, locals are suspecting foul play.Reportedly, the fire spread to the garage and nearby areas, however, no injuries have been reported so far.
Earlier in February 2020, a car caught fire on NH-37 at Jorabat area in Meghalaya while the vehicle carrying passengers was coming towards Guwahati from Tezpur. Following the incident, police had stopped all vehicular movement on that stretch and informed the fire tenders. The fire tenders managed to tame the fire. While in August at Hatigarh path near Zoo Road Tiniali in Guwahati a car carrying oxygen cylinders which were on medical duty caught fire. Meanwhile, the Fire & Emergency service department rushed the spot immediately and extinguished the flame of the car. The incident did not report any casualties.
In another incident which took place in Guwahati in April 2019, a Maruti 800 car coming from Ganesguri to Beltola caught fire all of a sudden. The reason behind the fire's breakout was believed to be short circuit inside the vehicle.
Similarly in 2018 a running
Tata Indigo car carrying three people accidentally caught fire on
National Highway 17 at Uparhali area near Bijaynagar, Guwahati. Later fire
tenders reached the spot and managed to extinguish the fire. The incident
reported no casualties.
