Assam: Centre Allocates Rs 180 Crore For Restoration Of Railway Line In Dima Hasao

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has informed that the centre has sanctioned Rs 180 crore to restore the damaged railway line in the Lumding-Badarpur section in Dima Hasao district of Assam.

The Assam CM took to his official Twitter handle to inform about the centre's decision to allocate 180 cr for the restoration of the railway network that was devastated by floods & landslides in Dima Hasao.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma went on to inform that the centre has given assurance that the restoration work of the railway line in the Lumding-Badarpur section in the Dima Hasao district of Assam would be wrapped up by July 10.

Himanta added that the repair of the damaged portions of the crucial rail link will not only restore connectivity between Barak and Brahmaputra valleys of Assam but also reconnect Tripura, Mizoram & parts of Manipur with the rest of the country.

Meanwhile, the NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) assured Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma that it would repair the Maibong-Harangajao stretch of the National Highway in the Dima Hasao district by May 31 and make it motorable.

On the crisis of Dima Hasao, the Chief Minister said, "The hill district is under an acute scarcity of petrol and diesel. IOC and a few other oil companies supply oil to the district through airdropping. Today they airdropped 6,000 litres of petrol and diesel in the district."
