JAMUGURIHAT: A new branch of Assam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) under Sonitpur Zila Sahitya Sabha was constituted in a public meeting held at Chengelimara HS with Diganta Bhuyan on the chair on Sunday. Sharanan Deva Nath, vice president, Dulal Nath, secretary, Shahin Ahmed, organizing secretary of Sonitpur Zila Sahitya Sabha, and Prakash Upadhyaya, secretary of the Chariduar branch of Sonitpur Zila Sahitya Sabha, briefly stated the constitutional provisions for the formation of a branch committee.
After a short discussion, a new Chengelimara branch committee of Xahitya Xabha under Sonitpur Zila Sahitya Sabha was constituted, with Diganta Bhuyan as president and Nabil Bhuyan as secretary, along with 11 executive members. The Chengelimara branch of Assam Xahitya Xabha was in existence prior to 2006. The branch had organized a mid-term conference of the district committee in 2005, which was attended by the then president of Assam, Xahitya Xabha Kanaksen Deka, as a chief guest.
