Assam Chief Minister's Principal Secretary named as DG in Defence Ministry

Recent government appointments include Samir Kumar Sinha as DG (Acquisition) in Defence Ministry and others in crucial roles across departments.

GUWAHATI: In a notable development, Samir Kumar Sinha, who served as the Principal Secretary to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has been appointed as Additional Secretary and Director General (Acquisition) in the Union Defence Ministry. The Union Personnel Ministry, through an official order, announced that the appointment received approval from the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet.

Samir Sinha, a 1994-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, held the position of Principal Secretary to the Assam Chief Minister for the past two and a half years. His extensive administrative experience and expertise will now contribute to the defence sector.

Additionally, Bharat Harbanslal Khera, a 1995-batch IAS officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre, has been designated as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution. This move reflects the government's strategic placement of seasoned officers in critical roles.

Chandra Bhushan Kumar is set to assume the responsibilities of Additional Secretary and Mission Director for the Jal Jeevan Mission under the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation. The government's emphasis on water and sanitation programs is underscored by such appointments.

Puja Singh Mandol, currently serving as Joint Director General in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. This underscores the government's commitment to data-driven decision-making and effective program implementation.

Sanjeev Kumar Jindal, presently a Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry, is promoted to the role of Additional Secretary, highlighting the government's recognition of his valuable contributions in the home affairs domain.

Furthermore, Asit Gopal, Commissioner of Eklavya Model Residential School under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, assumes the role of Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Textiles. This cross-functional appointment showcases the government's approach to leveraging expertise across different sectors.

In another significant move, Tripti Gurha, a senior bureaucrat, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Women and Child Development. This appointment is aligned with the government's focus on strengthening policies and initiatives for the welfare of women and children.
