Assam Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua Reviews COVID Preparedness in West Karbi Anglong

HAMREN: COVID Preparedness in West Karbi Anglong: Jishnu Barua, Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, held a meeting at the Circuit House, Hamren with senior officers of West Karbi Anglong district. Utpala Saikia, Deputy Commissioner, West Karbi Anglong, Superintendent of Police of West Karbi Anglong, Joint Director Health Services, West Karbi Anglong were also present along with other senior officers of the district, stated a press release.

Barua reviewed the present status and preparedness with regard to the COVID-19 situation with the Health Department, district administration, police administration and other departments. He enquired about the containment zones, number of vaccine beneficiaries, and condition of hospitals and COVID care centres across the district. He stressed the need of testing and vaccination to be done on a Mission Mode and emphasized on 100 per cent vaccination of frontline workers, essential service providers, staffs of various departments and offices.

He directed the district administration and health department to publicize 104 Tele Service and government SOPs through miking and FLS, particularly in rural areas, during COVID 19. He instructed the district administration to expedite the testing and vaccination of people in remote areas with the cooperation of local bodies, student unions, NGOs and teachers.

The Chief Secretary visited the Border outpost at Khanduli to understand the border issues between Assam and Meghalaya. He also visited the District Jail, Hamren where prisoners and jail staffs were being tested and vaccinated within the jail premises, accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner of West Karbi Anglong.
