GUWAHATI: On Tuesday, Pranab Jyoti Goswami, the Superintendent of Police for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam, was appointed as the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the Assam Police.
According to the official notification, “In the interest of public service, Shri Pranab Jyoti Goswami, APS, Superintendent of Police (Law), CID, Assam is hereby designated as the CPRO, Assam Police with immediate effect.”
On the other hand, Yuvraj, IPS officer and the SP for Assam's Charaideo district has been requested for deputation by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. An official announcement dated July 7 stated that he would be assigned as the senior superintendent of police at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
The IPS officer will be appointed to his new position on customary terms and conditions for a period of five years beginning on the day of assumption of charge or until further instructions, according to the notification.
As a result of the transfer, the Assamese government's home department made adjustments to the staff and named APS officer Hiranya Kumar Barman as the district's superintendent of police (SP).
APS Hiranya Barman, who had been assigned to the police commissionerate in Guwahati as the deputy commissioner of police (traffic), was removed of his duties and sent to the Charaideo SP position.
In addition, Hiranya Barman's duties were transferred to APS officer Jayanta Sarathi Borah. Jayanta Sarathi Borah, the assistant inspector general of police (AP) for Assam, was transferred and assigned to the position of deputy commissioner of police (traffic), according to the announcement from July 7.
In June, the Assam Government's Revenue and Disaster Management department carried out a significant reorganisation in the state revenue department on Wednesday. Several circle officers were transferred, and some were hired, due to the ongoing flood season and the strict deadlines of Mission Basundhara 2.0.
According to the notice that was published, up to 53 officials were transferred and placed in other circle offices, and a few were hired to fill positions that were open in a number of offices.
