Assam: CID summons senior police officer Kumar Sanjit Krishna in SI paper leak case

Criminal Investigation Department has summoned Kumar Sanjit Krishna, the former SP of Barpeta, for questioning in the SI paper leak scam

Guwahati: Moments after the government of Assam effected a major reshuffle in the police department, it has come to light that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has summoned Kumar Sanjit Krishna, the former SP of Barpeta, for questioning in the leakage of question papers for recruitment of Assam Police Sub-Inspectors (Unarmed Branch). In the recent shake-up, Krishna has been transferred as the SP of Barpeta FRRO.

Many of the prime suspects in the suspected cash-for-jobs scam -- including DIG (retd) PK Dutta and Diban Deka -- have already been arrested. The SI exam scam trail has led the police from Guwahati to Bongaigaon, and Karimganj. According to reports, Krishna had a good rapport with the Akshay Telecommunication owner while he served as the SP of Bongaigaon.

On Saturday, ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh announced that the prime accused who leaked the question paper will be arrested within two days. During a marathon operation on Saturday, seized Rs 5.36 crore in a single day from three districts in western Assam. Police arrested two persons in this connection.

It needs mention here that the arrest of accused Rubul Hazarika has revealed some more details in the leakage of the question paper of the SI written exams. Recently, a huge amount of money was recovered from Bongaigaon, and Barpeta in an operation launched by Assam Police.

Recently, Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta informed that the Criminal Information Department of Assam Police and Crime Branch of Guwahati City Police have altogether registered five cases in connection with the recruitment scam and have so far arrested 45 persons, including the two key accused (Dutta and Deka).
