GUWAHATI: In a recent development, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has revealed plans to close down the financially struggling state-run entities, Artfed and Assam Government Marketing Corporation Limited (AGMC). The decision, announced during an event at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Headquarters, aims to curtail the substantial losses incurred by these establishments.

During his address, Chief Minister Sarma emphasized that the two entities had been grappling with considerable financial setbacks for an extended period of time. Consequently, a strategic decision was made to discontinue the operations of Artfed and AGMC. The employees associated with these entities will be accorded dignified exits from their positions.

We have decided to close down Artfed and AGMC following huge losses suffered by these establishments.”

On a different note, Chief Minister Sarma also commented on the recent Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi. He humorously remarked that the road infrastructure built by Prime Minister Narendra Modi would aid Rahul Gandhi's walking endeavors, contributing to his health. However, he quipped that the real impact would likely be felt by the roads themselves as they bear the weight of the increased foot traffic.

In conclusion, Assam's Chief Minister's announcement of the closure of Artfed and AGMC due to extensive financial losses underscores the government's dedication to rectifying inefficient state-run operations. The decision aligns with the administration's pursuit of fiscal prudence and the optimal utilization of resources. As Assam moves forward with these changes, the state anticipates a more sustainable financial trajectory for its public enterprises.
