GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled ambitious plans for comprehensive administrative reforms during his address at the 77th Independence Day Celebrations held at the Khanapara Veterinary Field in Guwahati. Amidst a gathering that included Cabinet Ministers, Kamrup (Metro) DC Pallav Gopal Jha, Guwahati Police Commissioner Diganta Barah, and other dignitaries, the chief minister outlined a series of transformative changes slated to reshape the state's administrative landscape within a remarkably short span of one month.
The foremost and perhaps the most striking among these reforms is the abolition of the sub-division system across the state. Chief Minister Sarma emphatically stated that the existing sub-division structure would be replaced by the establishment of sub-districts within each constituency. In addition to this radical change, the chief minister also announced that districts that have been merged with other existing districts would undergo a thorough review, with a decision about their future determined within the following two months.
