Assam CM Himanta Biswa Asks Assam Police to Take Action for Spreading Fake News in his Name

The Assam CM wrote, "A FAKE tweet bearing my name is circulating saying that since cases of COVID19 have gone up schools & colleges are being closed."

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Saram has asked Assam Police to register an FIR for spreading fake news purportedly issued his Twitter account.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, the Assam Chief Minister wrote, "A FAKE tweet bearing my name is circulating saying that since cases of #COVID19 have gone up schools & colleges are being closed down from Nov 20. This is WRONG & should not be heeded to. Stay off misinformation and fake news! I am advising @assampolice to take note and act."

The message reads, "AS per covid-19 cases are increasing in Assam very fast. On 31st October it cross 300+ positive cases. So the Education department and the government decided to closed school's and the college's from 20th November."

Further replying to the tweet, Guwahati Police said that a case is being taken up at Crime Branch, Guwahati.

It is to be mentioned here that, the screenshot was widely been circulated on WhatsApp and other social media handles.

Earlier also, in the name of Assam Chief Minister fake news went viral about the non-opening of schools.
