Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Inaugurated 132/33-KV Chapakhowa Grid Substation

This grid substation is being fed through a 43.976 km 132kV overhead transmission line comprising of 158 towers, including 9 in the Brahmaputra.

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday inaugurated the 132/33-KV Chapakhowa Grid Substation of Sadiya.

On Twitter, Assam CM Himanta wrote, "Fulfilling our commitment to the people of Sadiya, I inaugurated the 132/33-KV Chapakhowa Grid Substation, which will provide uninterrupted power to 25,000 consumers".

He also informed that the government has spent Rs 73.87 crore on the project.

"Built at a cost of 73.87 crore, the project will boost various commerical & agro-based industries in the area", Assam CM said.

This grid substation is being fed through a 43.976 km 132kV overhead transmission line comprising of 158 towers, including 9 in the Brahmaputra. This will create huge scope for the establishment of various small, medium & large-scale industries.

Sources said that eleven 220 & 132 kV substations are being built under NERPSIP, of which Teok substation was commissioned recently, and works are on at the remaining 9 substations & expected to be completed by Dec 2021. AEGCL is also undertaking various projects to extend power network.

Earlier, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Rameshwar Teli inaugurated the Northeast region's first electric vehicle charging station in Guwahati on Wednesday. The utility is located at a Lokhra petrol pump. It takes approximately an hour for an electronic vehicle to be fully charged and run for about 300 to 400 kilometres.
