Guwahati: In a bid to understand problems faced by the public and to ensure attendance of doctors in hospitals and teachers in schools, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked Deputy Commissioners (DC) of all districts to make extensive field visits.

Apart from this, while addressing the bureaucrats on Tuesday, Sarma also directed DCs to ensure timely and speedy implementation of schemes.

After the day-long conference here, Sarma took to the micro-blogging site and said, ''Directed them to celebrate district days to facilitate & generate 'emotional connect' between district administration & people.

DCs must undertake extensive field visits to understand people's problems & ensure attendance of doctors & teachers in hospitals & schools respectively.''

He also reviewed the progress of GoA schemes like Mission Basundhara, Jal Jeevan Mission, Assam Mala, Arohan, provision of caste certificates for Class IX & X students, & flood preparedness.

He further advised DCs to make their offices the fulcrum of the governance delivery system.

''As part of our continued efforts to make administration more citizen-centric, I've advised DCs to make their offices fulcrum of governance delivery system, at a DC Conference at Assam Administrative Staff College. This meet is a curtain-raiser to another such meet at Tezpur in May,'' he said in another Tweet.
