Assam CM Inaugurates First Solar Power Plant In Udalguri District

As per the Assam Power Department, the said solar plant, worth Rs 300 crore, is expected to produce at least 5 crore units of electricity.

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday inaugurated the first 25-megawatt solar energy plant in Udalguri.

The plant is set up under the Assam Solar Energy Policy, 2017 in 'Build, Own, Operate' model at Lalpul, Udalguri district.

As per the Assam Power Department, the said solar plant, worth Rs 300 crore, is expected to produce at least 5 crore units of electricity.

The power plant will benefit the residents of the Darrang, Udalguri, and Sonitpur districts of Assam.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Sarma said, ''Happy to inaugurate Assam's first solar power plant set up under Assam Solar Energy Policy, 2017 in 'Build, Own, Operate' model at Lalpul, Udalguri district.

Inspired by Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodi Ji's vision, we are committed to shifting towards clean energy in the next 5 years.''

The Assam CM also complimented Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) and Azure Power Solar for successfully setting up the 25-MW solar plant project.

''I compliment @apdclsocial and @AzurePowerSolar for successfully setting up the 25-MW solar plant project.

In our journey towards inclusive growth & development, we are ensuring environment preservation by initiating necessary measures,'' he tweeted.

Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Shah, CEO of Azure Power said that the power generated by the plant will be supplied to APDCL under a long-term 25-year PPA on the inauguration.
