Barpeta: The Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today inaugurated the newly built court complex in the Barpeta district.
The Chief Minister in the inaugural function has said that the new building will succeed in meeting the aspirations and hopes of the locals residing in Barpeta. The court building will be able to assist in aiding the district's justice dispensation system.
Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma also stated that the state government will fund Rs. 300 crores in the next three years for the enhancement in the development of judicial infrastructure across the districts as well as across the subdivisions.
The Assam Chief Minister in the inaugural ceremony stated that Barpeta is the birthplace of many remarkable personalities of India
like Mahendra Mohan Choudhry, Jagadish Medhi etc. By mentioning Srimanta Sankaradev and Madhavdev in the function, the Chief Minister of Assam expressed
his pride in Hindu dharma and the significant meaning it holds.
The Minister for Law and Justice of Assam Dr Ranjit Kumar Dass tweeted that the new court building will be vital in accelerating the judicial system of the state.
The Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Justice R M Chhaya; the Judge-in-Charge, Administrative Department, Justice of Gauhati High Court, Justice N. Kotiswar Singh; Portfolio Judge of Barpeta district, Justice Ajit Borthakur; state's Minister for Law and Justice, Dr Ranjit Kumar Dass; and other dignitaries were also present in the event.
Earlier in March 2019, the tunnel bridging between Gauhati High Court's old and new building was unveiled by Ajjikuttira Somaiah Bopanna, the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, before a bench of Gauhati High Court's judges and advocates. In August 2013, Justice P Sathasivam, the Chief Justice of India launched the additional building of the Gauhati High Court.
