Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone of a museum in lower Assam's Bongaigaon town on Friday in a bid to preserve the rich culture and heritage of Assam's Koch Rajbongshi community.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by ministers like Pijush Hazarika, Phani Bhusan Choudhury and Bongaigaon deputy commissioner Dr. MS Lakshmi Priya.
While speaking on the occasion, Sonowal expressed his hope that the museum will play an important role in preserving the cultural resources and heritage of the Koch Rajbongshis.
A clock tower will be constructed by Sonowal at the cost of Rs. 25 lakhs.
Sonowal further laid several foundation stones of various development projects for the Bongaigaon town. Some of the developments projects included-
1. Distributing PM Care kits among migrant laborers.
2. Distributing Rs. 10,000 each and umbrellas to roadside vendors under PM SVANNidhi scheme
3. Lanched Mission Sampoorna under @POSHAN Official.
4. Inaugurated 1000 solar lights under project 'Pohar'.
5. Handed over scholarships to meritorious students.
6. Launched report of the 'Milihuli Project' prepared by Bongaigaon district admin, UNICEF and Tezpur University.
