TANGLA, April 2: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone for a number of developmental projects in the health, education, water resource sectors, among others in different parts of the Udalguri district on Sunday.
Chief Minister Sarma inaugurated the Borola Multi Village PWSS scheme in Bormukli along the Indo-Bhutan border in the Udalguri district followed by inauguration of the statue of Asom Gaurav, Kalpana Boro in Rowta of the Udalguri district. He also laid the foundation stone for a number of developmental projects in Tangla HS playground, including upgradation of Tangla CHC to 100-bedded SDCH; Tangla Water Supply scheme under AMRUT ; restoration works of Jalimukh Bundh ; Chilarai Bhawan at Tangla; Tangla HS School building among others.
Addressing a public meeting at Tangla HS playground, the Chief Minister said that the Tangla Water Supply scheme under AMRUT would fulfill the long-pending demand of providing potable drinking water to the citizens of Tangla town . He also reiterated that Tangla HS School would get a new building where there would be provisions for smart classrooms. He also assured that the Tangla CHC, which would be upgraded to 100-bedded SDCH, would be completed within 2025 and it would cater to the healthcare needs of the people of the area. He also announced that an auditorium would be built at Tangla College at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore along with grant of Rs 25 crore through the PWD for proper road and drainage infrastructure of Tangla town in the Udalguri district.
Addressing the event, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) CEM Pramod Boro said, “The Bodo belt was yearning for peace and development but in recent times through the Goodwill Mission package, the road, health and sports infrastructure of the four districts of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) have witnessed growth and development.”
Chief Minister Sarma also laid that the foundation stone of Eklavya Residential School, Malmura; 14 PWD road schemes; and SDPO office-cum-residence at Bhergaon. He also addressed a public meeting at Bhergaon where he announced that Bhergaon College would be built at Bhergaon in the Udalguri district. He also laid the foundation stone of Dimakuchi Mini Stadium in Dimakuchi of the Udalguri district along with inauguration of Dimakuchi Model Hospital; foundation stone of 20 elephant watch towers, and tea garden model schools in Dimakuchi.
The Chief Minister also visited the historic Borengajuli Xatra in Dimakuchi of the Udalguri district. He was accompanied by Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker-cum-Paneri MLA,Biswajit Daimari; ministers Ashok Singhal, Keshab Mahanta, Sanjay Kishan, Ronoj Pegu, Jayanta Mallabaruah; Mangaldoi Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia; among others.
