Assam: CM to Appoint Over 11,000 People In 21 Departments

Himanta Biswa Sarma said these appointments will be in addition to the already appointed 27,737 candidates

GUWAHATI: The Assam government will ceremonially distribute appointment letters to 11,202 people for various posts across 21 departments on Friday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

The appointment letters will be given out at a ceremonial event which will be conducted at Khanapara Veterinary Field in Guwahati on Friday.

Talking to the Microblogging site, Twitter, Sarma said these appointments will be in addition to the already appointed 27,737 candidates since he took charge in May last year.

Sarma said, "We commit, and we deliver—a significant step in our effort to provide one lakh jobs in Assam. GoA will now give out employment letters to 11,202 candidates in 21 government departments on September 23, 2022, in a ceremonial occasion in Khanapara, Guwahati, following 27,737 successful recruitments".

The Home and Political Department will receive 5,335 of the total appointments, followed by the School Education Department with 3,811 and the Higher and Technical Education Department with 927.

It is to be noted that as many as 304 new employees will be hired by the Public Works Department (PWD), while 299 positions in the Health and Family Welfare Department, 277 in the Panchayat and Rural Department, and 137 in the Irrigation Department will be filled.

There will be appointments for 11 candidates in the department of transformation and development, 33 candidates in the department of environment and forests, 24 candidates in the department of skills, employment, and entrepreneurship, and 13 candidates in the department of sports and youth welfare.

Also hiring will occur in additional departments including those for handloom and textiles, cooperation, information, and public relations, as well as skill, employment, and entrepreneurship.

The Assam government recently appointed 27,737 candidates to various government positions.

One lakh employment has been promised by the Assam government, led by Himanta Biswa Sarma.
