Assam: Competitions under Sanskritik Mahasangram kick off

LAKHIMPUR: The district level competitions under Sanskritik Mahasangram kicked off in Lakhimpur district on Wednesday with three-day programmes at Ahu Chaulgaon Ranga Mancha in North Lakhimpur town. It was inaugurated by Cultural Award winner artiste Bidyadhar Das. Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka attended the inaugural session of the competitions as chief guest. While delivering his lecture, the MLA extended his wishes to the competitors. “There is no dearth of talent in Assam. Sanskritik Mahasangram is that platform, which has paved the way for the youths of the State to enhance their latent talents. From this platform, the deserving youths can establish themselves in the national and international level cultural platforms”, the MLA stated. DDC Utpal Borah delivered the welcome address in the inaugural session.

On Wednesday, competitions on Jyoti Sangeet and Bishnu Rabha Sangeet were held. A total of 36 competitors extended their performance in Jyoti Sangeet competition while same number of competitors took part in the Bishnu Rabha Sangeet competition. Sankar Patowary, Pradip Dutta and Sukumar Phukan shouldered the responsibility of judges in the Jyoti Sangeet competition while Lavanya Lahon, Rumi Chetia and Biraj Phukan attended the Bishnu Rabha Sangeet competition as judges. The Bhupendra Sangeet and Ravindra Sangeet competitions under the Sanskritik Mahasangram will be held on Thursday. On the other hand, Bihu dance and ethnic cultural dance competitions will be held on Friday at the same place. The inaugural session of the event was also attended by Lakhimpur District Commissioner Gayatri Hyalinge, ADC Minakshi Perme, ACs Arjit Mahajan, Jyotikana Chetia, Nijara Boro, DIPRO Mandira Chayengiya, NLMB chairperson Nibenita Dutta and many other officers of the district administration, dignitaries of the public organizations and agencies and a host of prominent personalities.

Goalpara: The final phase of the Sangskritik Mohasangram in Goalpara district began on Wednesday at the Natasurya Phani Sarma Bhawan among the participants of the four assembly constituencies. A total of 139 participants in music, 25 groups in local ethnic dance and 6 groups in Bihu dance from Dudhnoi, East Goalpara, West Goalpara and Jaleswar LACs will fight for the district titles from where they will be entitled to participate in the state level competition.

Sponsored by the state cultural affairs department and in cooperation with the district administrations, the Sangskritik Mohasangram is aiming to provide a platform and explore the hidden talents of the budding artistes.

In Goalpara, the day was also observed as the Shilpi Divas and floral tribute was paid at the portrait of Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala by the dignitaries prior to beginning of the programme.

Tankeswar Rabha, chief executive member of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council and the chief guest in the programme spoke about the power of culture to unite the society and hailed the Chief Minister for taking such initiatives like Sangskritik Mahasangram.

On the other hand, Khanindra Choudhury, district commissioner, speaking on the occasion said that in a rural based district like Goalpara, the Sangskritik Mahasangram competition has turned the environment into a festive workshop and helped the participants to learn many unknown things which were rather new for them. Ranjit Konwar, DDC, Dipak Kumar Nath, chairman of development authority, Kalyani Kangkana Das, ADC, Trishna Sarma, Merry Hazarika and Rishiraj Das, all assistant commissioners and many other district officers attended the event.
