GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday said that the construction on a new bridge linking Majuli and Jorhat will begin on November 30.
The Chief Minister added that he will return to the river island on November 30 to lay the foundation stone for the new bridge, which is part of the PHE department's Solar Piped Water Supply plan at Namoni Jakaibowa in Majuli. "A new bridge will be established over the River Brahmaputra at Majuli," CM Sarma stated. "The first pile foundation will be started on November 30 and the bridge will be completed in four years," he said.
The Assam Chief Minister toured the model college, polytechnic college, cultural university, and an Ayurvedic hospital projects with other ministers and stated that all of the projects will be finished on schedule.
Government has taken several construction and development projects for the North Eastern region of the country. After the construction and inauguration of the Dispur Flyover worth rupees 127 crore in Assam, The Chief Minster promises netizens for another flyover soon to be constructed in Guwahati.
On the other hand in Guwahati's Zoo Road tri-junction, the Assam PWD (Public Works Department) will build a new flyover. The project has already been put out to tender by the department. The DPR (Detailed Project Report) has been prepared, according to PWD sources, and the anticipated project cost is Rs 79 crore.
This planned two-lane overbridge is approximately 580 metres long. According to officials inside the department, "The Zoo Road Tinali traffic bottleneck would be reduced after the project is done (tri-junction). The project's foundation stone is planned to be placed in the latter half of this year. We're hoping to finish the flyover ahead of schedule."
