Guwahati: In a bid to contain the spread of the swine flu outbreak, the Darrang District Administration culled over 150 pigs in Mangaldoi, here on Tuesday.
As per reports, the district administration culled the pigs and buried them in trenches at Kamarpara in Mangaldoi.
Areas in the district like, Pathorighat, Godhia Para, and Komarpara have witnessed the infection in pigs.
Meanwhile, As per the government data, around 39,340 pigs, including wild pigs, died of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Assam since April 2020.
Earlier in April, three northeastern states, namely Mizoram, Sikkim, and Assam, were witnessing an outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) cases -- a highly contagious viral disease emanating from pigs had restricted the import of pigs.
