Assam: Dead Body of Student Recovered From Kopili River

The body of the student was found in the Rajbasti locality of the region.

KHERONI: The dead body of a student who went missing on Wednesday was recovered on Thursday by the rescue services from the Kopili River.

According to the fire and emergency services personnel, a report was received on Wednesday night that a boy had gone missing after he had gone for a swim in the Kopili River of the region. Since the rescue operation was not possible to be carried out at night, the personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services along with the State Disaster Response Force reached the location of the incident early in the morning.

After a prolonged search of the region, the members of the rescue forces were finally able to recover the dead body from the river. The body of the student was found in the Rajbasti locality of the region.

Meanwhile, Biswanath Police on Wednesday night arrested the wife of Sashank Kakati with regard to his sudden demise on the same day. This action was taken after the family accused her of involvement in the death of her husband. The family of the victim accused that there were continuous fights among the couple and even accused his wife Lakhyahira of having extra-marital affairs with one Dipankar Borah. They also mentioned that the victim Sashank Kakati had recently acquired over Rs 22 Lakhs by selling a plot of land and that the accused had eyes on the money. That is why both plotted the murder of the late Sashank Kakati. The family members of the victim also accused that about a week back, Dipankar Borah along with two of his friends attacked Sashank near their home.

Meanwhile, Biswanth Police has also arrested four of his friends and continue to interrogate them for more information regarding the incident. In the shocking incident, a man who went for a dip in a river went missing on Tuesday. This incident took place in the Fatikabasti locality of Biswanath. A 29-year-old youth identified as Sasanka Kakati of Dagaon locality went to take a bath in the Burigang River of the Biswanath region of the state. The personal belongings of the missing man including his clothes and mobile phones were recovered from the river bank.
