Assam: Deceased headmaster’s wife demands justice

In a letter addressed to the Demow Press Club by Rati Panika, widow of Rajkapur Panika, she stated that her husband Rajkapur Panika was mentally harassed by some people which led him to commit suicide.

DEMOW: In a letter addressed to the Demow Press Club by Rati Panika, widow of Rajkapur Panika, she stated that her husband Rajkapur Panika was mentally harassed by some people which led him to commit suicide.

Rati Panika demanded a source of livelihood for the family and punishment for the guilty. The incident took place on October 3. Rajkapur Panika (50), a resident of Rajmai Pakhimuri Line near Demow and Headmaster of 1051 No. Rajmai Kishan Primary School committed suicide. Two persons named Sanjay Prasad Sah, a web portal reporter, and Santosh Karmakar were allegedly demanding money from him. He was mentally disturbed and this led him to commit suicide.

Rati Panika had lodged an FIR in Demow Station. Based on the FIR, Sanjay Prasad Sah and Santosh Karmakar were arrested and a case was also registered. They were sent to Sivasagar Jail recently. A suicide note was recovered from the deceased Headmaster’s residence and in the suicide note, the names of Deba Kakoty, who is a CRCC, media person Sanjay Prasad Sah and Santosh Karmakar were mentioned. Among the three persons, two had been arrested. The third accused, Deba Kakoty, is still absconding.
