Assam: Delimitation of 2 MLA constituencies demanded in Dima Hasao

Haflong: Along with opposing the implementation of Panchayat Raj in Dima Hasao district, Suraj Naiding, former Executive Member of N C Hills Autonomous Council appealed to the people of Dima Hasao district including apex bodies, students organizations not to support BJP in the coming MP (LS) election 2024 if the government before the coming LS election, do not decide to create one more MLA constituency in Dima Hasao district by delimiting of 2 MLA constituencies in Dima Hasao draft proposal of delimitation commission.

He further said that Dima Hasao (Erstwhile N C Hills) could have more than 6 MLA constituencies, had Dima Hasao remained in Meghalaya when Dima Hasao was offered the option to remain under Meghalaya or under Assam state during the creation of Meghalaya Autonomous State in 1970. Hence the delimitation of 2 MLA constituencies in Dima Hasao district before the Lok Sabha election 2024 has been demanded.
