Xorai is considered an article of great respect in Assam. Therefore, the demolition has been received with great criticism and anger on social media and other platforms.

However, Assam Water Resource Minister, Piyush Hazarika, immediately rushed to the spot to control the situation.

He informed, "It's painful to see that the replicas of Xorai, a traditional and respected article, have been demolished and left on the roadside. I have spoken to both the authority and locals and it was agreed that we will reinstall them at a different site with proper ceremony."
