Assam: Deputy Speaker Condemns Attack On BJP Office In Karbi Anglong

A group of unidentified miscreants torched the BJP Sarupathar Mandal office under the Bokajan assembly constituency in Assam's Karbi Anglong district.

Karbi Anglong: Assam Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Numal Momin on Sunday condemned the attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Sarupathar.

Momin, while visiting the spot said that the culprits should not be spared.

"We will not spare anyone who will threaten the people of Sarupathar area whether he is from BJP or Congress. We will initiate strong action against those who will try to disturb the peaceful environment,'' he added.

He further said that the goonda Raj will not be allowed in the state and strict action will be taken against the culprits.

On Saturday night, a group of unidentified miscreants torched the BJP Sarupathar Mandal office under the Bokajan assembly constituency in Assam's Karbi Anglong district.

Notably, the attack was carried out just ahead of the elections to 26 seats of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) to be held on June 8.

The counting of votes will be done on June 12.
