TINSUKIA: The Designers Association Tinsukia, a group of engineers and architects, observed Engineer’s Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary civil engineer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya at TDA Cultural Auditorium Tinsukia with Syed Abou Jasnin, the president of Designers Association Tinsukia in the chair on Friday.
The programme began with the floral tribute at the portrait of Sir Visvesvaraya, which was followed by a chorus composed and directed by noted singer Purnendu Das dedicating the contribution of Sir Visvesvaraya. The programme was attended by more than 100 students from ITI Boys Tinsukia, ITI Girls Tinsukia and Makum Polytechnic, besides leading engineers and architects of Tinsukia.
Inspirational talks, primarily targeting the students, were delivered by two resource persons from OIL Duliajan, namely geologist Diganta Gogoi and Nababrata Gogoi, besides Kajal Gohain, chairman of Tinsukia Development Authority, and Pabitra Gogoi, chairman of TMB. The programme was moderated by Rubul Borah while the welcome address was delivered by Monoj Borah, founder president of Designers Association Tinsukia.
The event also witnessed felicitation to four engineers and architects who contributed immensely to the development of Tinsukia. They are Biswajit Bhuyan, Town & Country Planner, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh; Arup Gogoi, celebrated architect; JP Das of Tinsukia Municipal Board; and Bani Kanta Baruah of Tinsukia Development Authority.
