SILCHAR: Waiving off the ‘Quit Assam’ threat issued by the ULFA, DGP G P Singh in clear terms stated that various militant outfits in various States he had been working in last 15 years had similarly threatened him. Singh who arrived here on Monday for the first time after assuming the charge as DGP, said, the government had been giving him salary and it was his moral obligation to discharge his duty. Maintaining that the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had been sincerely trying to bring back peace and normalcy in the State and the police force too had been trying its best, Singh said he would be the last person to tolerate any attempt by any outfit to destabilize the mission of the government. “Extortion would be handled with firm hand,” he quipped.
