DIBRUGARH: DHSK College, Dibrugarh, organized an awareness programme on Tuesday as per the directive from the office of the Director of Higher Education, Assam to educate students about the responsible use of plastic.

The programme featured Dr Anup Jyoti Bharali, Coordinator of IQAC, Dr Lamkholal Doungel, Head of the Department of Political Science, Dr Parag Jyoti Chutia of Physics Department and Sivanath Chutia, Department of Political Science, as resource persons, who in their respective speeches effectively imparted knowledge and awareness to the students.

Dr Doungel informed the students of the importance and significance of the initiative and stressed the need for personal responsibility in addressing this pressing issue, not merely depending on the government. Appreciating the initiative of the DHE and the government, Dr A. Bharali and Dr Parag Chutia also in the same breath, spoke on various aspects of the use, misuse, and proliferation of plastic, and the subsequent damage caused to our ecology. They appealed to the students to realize that their future lies in their prudent acts of humility and wisdom.

The students also interacted with the resource persons, raising their queries and concerns. Some students reasoned that the government should take more stringent action by introducing a bill against the use and sale of plastics. The programme ended with the students in a positive mood, committed to using plastic cautiously.
