Assam: Diphu Town Celebrates Pre-Christmas to Kick Off the Holiday Season

Diphu's United Christian Forum orchestrates a vibrant pre-Christmas celebration, uniting denominations for a joyous anticipation of the upcoming Christmas festivities.

GUWAHATI: Diphu town embraced the spirit of the season with the United Christian Forum (UCF) hosting a lively Pre-Christmas celebration at Joysing Doloi Auditorium, themed 'In the Fullness of Time' based on Galatians 4:4. The event served as a convergence point for church elders, priests, and believers of all ages, fostering joyous anticipation for the Christmas festivities.

The celebration commenced with the congregation singing the timeless Christmas hymn 'Joy to the World.' Dr. Solomon Rongpi, President of UCF and senior pastor of Diphu Baptist Church, delivered the welcome address. Fr. Saji, Vice President of UCF and principal of Don Bosco HS School, Diphu, extended Christmas greetings, emphasizing Christ as the prince of peace. He urged believers to prepare their hearts to receive the Prince of Peace this Christmas.

Richard Tokbi, Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) for Education, graced the occasion as the guest of honor, expressing gratitude for abundant blessings. Tokbi conveyed Christmas wishes from Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang, assuring attendees of Ronghang's love and greetings.

Tokbi shared a Christmas message, reminding everyone to seek first the kingdom of God. He concluded the message by cutting the Pre-Christmas cake, marking the joyous occasion.

Chin Lamthang Buansing, Executive Director of Lok-Ki-Seva, Guwahati, delivered a thought-provoking Pre-Christmas message. He emphasized that the core of Christmas lies in God being Immanuel—God with us. Buansing stressed that Christmas is not only about celebrating Christ's birth but also reflecting on God's plan to save mankind. The theme 'In the fullness of his time' underscored that God sent his son at the appointed time for humanity's salvation.

Choirs from various churches, including Diphu Baptist Church, Reformed Presbyterian Church, Dillaji; Inter Colleges Evangelical Union (ICEU), Diphu; Diphu Presbyterian Church, Dillaji, and Diphu Town United Choir, presented beautiful Christmas songs during the celebration.

The event concluded with a benediction by Albert Teron, Senior Executive Secretary of Karbi Anglong Presbyterian Church Synod. The celebration not only united different Christian denominations but also emphasized the profound message of love and salvation that Christmas carries.
