Assam: District Administration of South Salmara Mankachar Celebrates Independence Day

Thousands of local people, including hundreds of students participated in this event.

HATSINGIMARI: Along with the rest of the country, the 77th Independence Day of the country was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the South Salmara Mankachar district of the state.

The main celebration was organised by the district administration in South Salmara Mankachar on the Hatsingimari bus stand premises. On the occasion of the 77th Independence Day, District Commissioner Bikash Chandra Bhagawati hoisted the Indian National Flag on the premises on the occasion.

Thousands of local people, including hundreds of students participated in this event. The Member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from Mankachar, Aminul Islam also took part in this celebration.

During his speech, the District Commissioner spoke about various welfare schemes of the government and about how they have benefited the local people of the district. He also remembered the martyrs who laid down their lives for the independence of their country from the ruling British forces. He also mentioned that the people of the country should never forget the sacrifices made by our forefathers so that we can now live in India as free people. He also requested everyone to work towards making the country a better place to live in.

The 77th Independence Day was celebrated in the Sonitpur district as well. Member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from Sootea, Padma Hazarika housed the Indian Flag in Jamugurihat.

This Independence Day celebration was organised at the zonal office of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Naduar of Jamugurihat under the Sootea Constituency. Padma Hazarika attended the 77th Independence Day celebration organised on the morning of Tuesday.

The elected representative remembered the martyrs of the freedom struggle in his speech and spoke about their contributions towards making the country independent. He also said that all Indians should take a pledge under the flag to protect the country from any threat. He also called for establishing unity among all the ethnic groups and communities of the country and strengthening the connection between all groups.

People from over 10 gaon panchayats, Naduar municipality and many more local people took part in this celebration.
