Assam: District-level consultation meeting against gender-based violence held

A resolution was also made by the participating departments to work together for elimination of violence against women and child

GOLAGHAT: A district-level consultation meeting in context to the ongoing 16-day campaign against gender-based violence against women and girls was organized by the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission, District Mission Management unit, Golaghat and Social Welfare department, Golaghat on Saturday in the conference hall of DRDA office, Golaghat.

In the meeting the Project Directore, DRDA, DSWO, CDPOS of ICDS blocks, members of ASRLM , PNRD department, officials of DHEW , OSC and other members of different NGOs like NEN, CINI, Swadhar greh, Ujjawala greh of Golaghat district were present. The topic related to domestic violence and sexual harrasment at workplace and other issues of women were discussed in the meeting. The members of different NGOs also shared their experience regarding this topics.

The district scenario on violence against women and girls and new scheme related to safety and security of women and girls under women and child development department were presented by the officials of District Hub for empowerment of women in Golaghat. A resolution was also made by the participating departments to work together for elimination of violence against women and child and try to report every DVA case or POSH case and assist the victims to get justice.
