SOUTH SALMARA: In a momentous event, the South Salmara-Mankachar district witnessed the grand inauguration of the Khel Maharan, a sports extravaganza encompassing the vibrant spirit of the region. Held at the playground of the Kharuabandha Janata HS School playground. the district-level sports competition marks a significant milestone for the local community.
Under the umbrella of the South Salmara-Mankachar District Vidhan Sabha Samiti, and in collaboration with the South Salmara Vidhan Sabha Samiti, the Khel Maharan unfolds as a multi-sport spectacle. The first day of the event featured three exhilarating games—Kabaddi, Volleyball, and Kho kho—setting the tone for the upcoming days. The competition is set to traverse various high school grounds, with the remaining two days scheduled at Hatsingimari College Playground.
This sporting extravaganza is not just a local affair; it serves as a platform for talent recognition and community unity. The winners of the district-level competition will earn the privilege of representing the district at the state-level Khel Maharan, a competition that draws participants from across the state of Assam.
Notable dignitaries graced the occasion, including Aminul Islam, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Mankachar Vidhan Sabha Constituency. Other key figures in attendance were DC Rahul Kumar Gupta and SP Haren Takabi.
