Assam: District Programme Officer Caught Red-Handed While Accepting Bribe in Dhubri

Assam Special DGP stated that the DPO has been arrested on the charges pertaining to accepting bribe money for "releasing outstanding salary of the complainant."

Dhubri: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Wing of Assam on Friday caught a District Programme Officer (DPO) red-handed at Sarva Siksha Abhijan Mission while receiving a bribe in the Assam's Dhubri district.

The accused has been recognized as Azharul Islam. Assam Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) GP Singh in a tweet stated that the DPO has been arrested on the charges pertaining to accepting bribe money for "releasing outstanding salary of the complainant."

Another bribery case has been registered today for receiving a demanded amount for the transformation of the land of the concerned complainant. The arrested person has been identified as Ranjan Goswami of Lat Mondal Karimganj Sadar Circle.

Earlier on Thursday, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau of the state took a senior assistant named Gobin Bordoloi working at the District Transport Office while accepting bribes in Dhemaji for renewing the trade license of an E-Rickshaw shop.The Special General of Police Singh wrote on his Twitter handle calling it a "Continued offensive against corruption."

Another corruption case was filed on Wednesday when a Dealing Assistant was nabbed red-handed while receiving a bribe in the Sub Registrar Office in the DC office complex in Assam Biswanath's district. The arrested had been identified as Tapan Saha who allegedly accepted the corrupt money for rectifying works related to the registration of land.

On Tuesday too, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption department took a head school teacher named Didarul Islam into custody in Hatimoria MV School of Morigaon district on grounds of bribe charges in updating and issuing of complainant's service book and Last Pay Certificate (LPC) respectively.
