Assam Doctors, Paramedical Staff Stage Protest Across State

DEMOW: IMA Assam State Branch, joined by Assam Medical Service Association (AMSA), had called for 24 hours withdrawal of medical services, excluding emergency, on September 3 in protest against the brutal killing of Dr Deben Dutta at Teok Tea Estate. In Demow, also doctors, nurses and health employees of Demow Model Hospital joined in the protest on Tuesday. A silent candle march was organized in Sivasagar in protest against the killing and to pay tribute to Dr Deben Dutta by IMA, Sivasagar Branch, AMSA, Sivasagar unit and the people of Demow and Sivasagar on Tuesday evening.

DHEKIAJULI: Health services in and around Dhekiajuli revenue circle area were affected on Tuesday due to the 24-hour State-wide strike called by Indian Medical Association, Assam unit, in protest against the brutal murder of senior doctor Dr Deben Dutta of Teok Tea Estate on August 31. In Dhekiajuli, IMA Dhekiajuli unit president Dr M M Rahman participated in the protest with all other members of IMA Dhekiajuli unit. On Tuesday evening, doctors, paramedical staff and the local senior citizens took out a candlelight silent procession throughout Dhekiajuli town as a mark of their protest.

HAFLONG: In protest against the brutal killing of Dr Deben Dutta at Teok Tea Estate on August 31, the Assam Medical Service Association (AMSA), Haflong unit, in coordination with AMSA, central unit, resorted to 24-hour cease work of non-essential services from 6 am of September 3 to 6 am of September 4. In addition, all the doctors staged dharna at 10 am at the Haflong Civil Hospital premises and a candlelight march was also held at 6 pm. However, the emergency services were not affected during the protest.
