GOLAGHAT: Dr. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award was given away to meritorious students under Pragyan Bharati Scheme at Debraj Roy College in Golaghat on Thursday. Under the initiative of the Department of Higher Education, Government of Assam and in collaboration with the Golaghat district administration, a total of 1,197 students with 75% or more marks in the 2023 Higher Secondary final examination of the district and 1,197 students who passed in the first division were awarded.
The chief guest on the occasion was Ajanta Neog, MLA, Golaghat Assembly Constituency and Minister for Finance, Government of Assam. Giving away a scooty each to all the awardees, the Minister appreciated the steps taken by the Government of Assam in the Education Department and said that such steps would inspire the future generations.
Participating in the event, Golaghat District Commissioner Dr. P. Uday Pravin delivered the welcome address. In his address, the DC congratulated all the awardees and said that such awards would benefit the students of the hinterland and urged everyone to be career oriented.
