Assam Education Minister Pegu Shares Website for Complaints of Scooters Distributed to Meritorious Girl Students by Govt

Pegu said that they have started distribution of pending scooters to meritorious girl students observing COVID protocol

Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Saturday posted a tweet sharing details of a website where girl students who have received scooters from the government can lodge their complaints if any about the scooters.

Pegu tweeted, "For any complaint on distribution of Scooters to meritorious girl student write to scootercomplaint.dhe@gmail.com"

Assam government has distributed 22,000 scooters to number of girl students, where Former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted schemes such as PM Ujjala, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Jan-Dhan Yojana etc. He also spoke about the 'Arunodoi' scheme which benefits several lakh women of the State and said last year that State governments' welfare schemes in the last four and a half years have touched the lives of 70 lakh families including women and helped them to be self-sufficient.

Last year, Himanta Biswa Sarma while speaking on the occasion said that the State government launched Dr Banikanta Kakaty Merit Award in 2017-18 and presented scooters to 1000 girl students who secured first division.

In 2018-19 and 2019-20, the award could not be presented due to several reasons, he said adding that the State government has now decided to give away the scooters to the meritorious girl students of that period in February next year which would benefit 5000 and 10000 girl students who secured first division. He further said that the State government while presenting more than 22 thousand scooters to girl students would be able to cover all together 40 thousand girl students by this award since its launch in 2017-18.

CM Sarma earlier mentioned that the government has planned to give two-wheelers to meritorious male students as well. The first phase of scooter distribution ceremony was held on December 20 last year at Amingaon, Guwahati. The government has also provided Laptops and cash award in lieu of Laptops to the meritorious students securing 1st division in the HSLC and High Madrassa Examination of SEBA and 10th standard examination held under State Madrassa Education Board, Assam and Sanskrit Board Assam under 'Anundoram Barooah Cash-cum Laptop Award Scheme.' This scheme was planned for motivating and inspiring the students for better performance and to have first-hand experience with Information and Communication Technology.

On June 3, Pegu said that they have started pending distribution of scooters to meritorious girl students. He tweeted, "We have started pending distribution of scooters to meritorious girl students from today observing Covid protocol."

A total of 2,49,812 candidates are registered for the HS final examination-2021. Of them, a total of 1,91,860 candidates are in the Arts stream; 38, 431 in the Science stream; 18, 440 in the Commerce stream; and 1,081 candidates have been registered in the Vocational stream.
