Assam Education Minister Ronoj Pegu Proposes 20% Increase in State College Seats

Commenting on the recently declared HSLC results, Minister Pegu said, "HSLC, HS passing rate is higher this time, and it is a positive sign."

GUWAHATI: In a bid to strengthen the education scenario in Assam, the Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu informed that he has proposed to raise 20 % seat capacity in colleges of Assam so that opportunities for higher education can reach the larger parts of Assam.

Commenting on the recently declared HSLC results, Minister Pegu said, "HSLC, HS passing rate is higher this time, and it is a positive sign."

He further informed that the willing students shall register for seats at Universities and Colleges online this time due to the Covid scenario in the state. He added that the application procedure will be carried out through provided links of specific and verified websites.

He further reiterated that, "Government, private, venture should all register."

The education minister further informed that there will be 5 options to choose from among colleges to enroll for the students.

"While applying online, students can only select one college and this would refrain them from blocking multiple seats so that all get a chance," added Pegu.

Minister Ranoj Pegu assured that the proposal has been already forwarded and the talks would begin very fast. The increase of seats in colleges by 20 percent would help increase opportunities for aspirants to get enrolled in a good college according to his or her choice.

"Those who have passed out with good marks will definitely get seats in the colleges, we will ensure that," said Ranoj Pegu.

He also added that, for those who are not satisfied with the HS results this year, a special test will be conducted.
