Assam: Educationist Lalit Bhattacharyya passes away in Dibrugarh

GAURISAGAR: Lalit Bhattacharyya, noted educationist and a resident of Dikhowmukh Moglow village, on the outskirts of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district passed away on the day of Maha Astami morning (October 22) at a private nursing home in Dibrugarh. He was 79. He was an assistant teacher of Kalugaon HS School and got superannuation in 2006. Soon after retirement he was closely associated with Dikhowmukh Boidik Baishnav Samaj, Gaurisagar Sakha Jestha Nagarik Sanmilani, Dikhowmukh college Managing Committee and others. He was popular as an astrologer. His demise was widely mourned in entire Dikhowmukh and Gaurisagar area.

Having reached his body at home from Dibrugarh, a shradhanjjali function was held. Cultural activist Montu Kalita anchored it where various organizations like Dikhowmukh Boidik Baishnav Samaj, Gaurisagar Sakha Jestha Nagarik Sanmilani, Dikhowmukh college, Gaurisagar High School, Khanakhokora High School, Borhamthuri Sanskritic Gosthi, Triluchan Sanskritic Mancha, Gaurisagar and others organizations, individuals paid rich tribute to his body. He is survived by his wife, two sons, two married daughters and a host of relatives.
